The results of your fingerprints may be sent to you by RCMP and then you forward these fingerprints results to the concerned citizenship office. Or otherwise, the results of your fingerprints may be sent directly to the concerned citizenship office (IRCC) by RCMP based on your authorization to us.

Ink and Roll FBI Fingerprinting Card, FD 258 or FD 1164 are required by Individuals who have lived in United States of America. If you are currently living in Canada and are looking for Identity History Summary Request or FBI Police Clearance or FBI Police Certificate for immigration to Canada, permanent resident Application for Canada, Canadian Citizenship, or Employment, then you are required to mail fingerprint card FD 258 or FD 1164 to FBI. Both cards are used for Identity History Summary Request.
Are you applying for US Waiver I192 or If you have plan to travel abroad, work, or applying for visa or border crossing, certain countries do need Certified Criminal background check report issued by RCMP based on fingerprints submission. In such a case, you should contact our office. What you need to bring – Two pieces of original Valid IDs. Check List of IDs acceptable.

Fingerprints submitted under Privacy Act allows the applicant to have criminal background check report issued by RCMP National Repository of Entire Holdings (criminal records) for civil purposes. This report does not include your picture and fingerprints. The RCMP report is mailed directly to the individual applicant and not to the third party.

The best answer to this question comes from the organization which has asked for an RCMP criminal record check report which is based on fingerprints. Some of the offices might accept a report which is latest of 3 months, others may accept as old as 6 months, or some of the authorities may accept as old as 12 months.
